Premature ejaculation. Common, and manageable.
Premature ejaculation — known locally as pancut awal — means ejaculating earlier than you or your partner would like, with little control, causing distress. It is one of the most common sexual problems in men.
Two main types
- Lifelong — present since the first sexual experiences; usually biological sensitivity and response patterns
- Acquired — control was normal before and has changed; check for erection problems, prostate inflammation, thyroid problems or stress
Some men rush because they worry the erection will not last. In that case the real issue is erectile dysfunction, and treating it often improves control too.
It is not only about minutes
Doctors assess premature ejaculation by control, timing and its impact on you and your partner — not time alone. Clinically, ejaculation within about one minute (lifelong type) or under about three minutes (acquired type), with poor control and distress, is usually considered premature ejaculation.
At Klinik Etika
- Confidential assessment — when it started, when it happens, and whether there are erection or urinary symptoms
- Behavioural techniques — the “stop-start” and “squeeze” methods and control training, explained practically
- Pelvic floor exercises — Kegel exercises help control in some men
- Medicine and treating the cause — topical or oral treatment only on a doctor's prescription; treatment of erection, prostate or other problems found
Many men need a combination of techniques and treatment over several weeks, with follow-up to adjust the plan. Costs are explained before treatment.
Be careful with “tahan lama” products
Long-lasting sprays, creams and pills sold online are often unregistered and may contain numbing agents or undeclared drugs. Check the MAL number on the NPRA website before using any product, and get an assessment to see whether an erection, prostate or anxiety problem needs treating first.

Frequently asked questions
How long counts as premature ejaculation?
There is no single number. Clinically, ejaculation within about one minute (lifelong type) or less than about three minutes (acquired type), that is hard to control and causes distress, is usually assessed as premature ejaculation.
Can premature ejaculation be treated?
Many men gain better control with a combination of techniques, exercises and suitable treatment. If it is caused by an erection or prostate problem, treating that often helps.
Is premature ejaculation linked to erectile dysfunction?
Sometimes. Men who worry about losing their erection tend to rush. In that case, treating the erection problem usually improves premature ejaculation as well.
Do Kegel exercises help?
For some men, yes. Consistent pelvic floor training over several weeks can improve control. The doctor can show you the correct method.
Do I need to bring my partner?
It is not required, but a partner who understands the problem and the techniques often helps progress.
