Male fertility · Kota Bharu, Kelantan
Sperm test in Kota Bharu. The first step in male fertility.
When a couple has not conceived, a male factor is involved in about half of cases. A semen analysis is a simple, painless test of sperm count, movement and shape.
When to have a sperm test
- After 12 months of trying without pregnancy — the usual time to test both partners
- After 6 months if the wife is 35 or older
- Earlier with a history of mumps affecting the testes, surgery or injury to the genitals
- Past or current use of steroids or testosterone “boosters”, which can sharply lower sperm count
What is measured
The test measures semen volume, sperm count, motility (movement) and morphology (shape) against the WHO 2021 reference values. One low result does not mean infertility — sperm quality varies over time, so the test is often repeated after a few weeks before drawing conclusions.
At Klinik Etika
- Preparation — avoid ejaculation for 2–7 days before the test; the clinic explains how to collect the sample and when to deliver it
- Semen analysis — standard parameters, with results explained by the doctor
- Finding the cause — hormones, varicocele, infection and lifestyle if the result is abnormal
- Next steps — lifestyle advice, treatment of the cause, or referral to a fertility centre if needed
WhatsApp the clinic to arrange a time and get preparation instructions. The cost is explained before the test. Couples are encouraged to assess both husband and wife at the same time.
Lifestyle matters
Smoking, obesity, excess heat on the testes, alcohol, steroids or testosterone supplements, infections and some medicines can all lower sperm quality. Over-the-counter “fertility” supplements have mixed evidence and some are unregistered. Related: testosterone test, weight management.
