Where is the premarital HIV test done?

According to the official government portal (malaysia.gov.my), premarital HIV screening for Muslim couples is done at government health clinics, and appointments can be booked through the MySejahtera app. In Kelantan, follow the instructions of your Pejabat Agama Islam Jajahan on which government clinic or hospital to attend. Rules can change, so check with them if you are unsure.

The process in general

1. Pre-marriage course — both partners usually attend and keep the certificate.
2. Check the requirements and forms at your Pejabat Agama Islam Jajahan (under the Kelantan Islamic Religious Affairs Department).
3. Book the test at a government health clinic, for example through MySejahtera.
4. HIV blood test at the health clinic; no fasting is needed.
5. Submit the result with your marriage application as instructed by the Pejabat Agama.

How long is the result valid?

According to malaysia.gov.my, a premarital HIV screening result is valid for 6 months. Avoid testing too early if your nikah date is still far away, and confirm with your Pejabat Agama if the rules change.

Need a confidential HIV test for another reason?
