What a standard urine drug test checks for

A screening test detects groups of substances such as opiates, amphetamines/methamphetamine and cannabis, and others depending on the panel used. A positive screen is not a final result — it must be confirmed with a laboratory confirmation test, because some medicines can cause false positives.
